A vicious gang who attacked two men with knives and baseball bats leaving them with life-changing injuries have been given hefty jail sentences.

Their first unsuspecting victim was lured in his car by Suheel Ellahi to Yew Tree Road, Aston, where Hubaish Khan rammed into it at speed, making sure he couldn’t escape.

His accomplices Aramaan Azam, Usmaan Rehman and Farhaan Azam then smashed up the car and dragged the man to the ground where he was badly beaten with bats and stabbed three times.

The victim in his 20s, suffered a fractured jaw, missing teeth, a broken nose, and other internal injuries, during the attack on 5 January 2022.

This included a stab wound to his chest which only narrowly missed his heart – leaving him with life-changing injuries.

Just over two years later on 29 February 2024, officers were called to Birchfield Road, also Birmingham, at around 11.50pm to reports a man in his 20s had been stabbed and had serious hand injuries.

Following extensive enquiries Khan, Ellahi and Aramaan Azam were also arrested in connection with this attack.

They were charged with attempted murder for the 2024 offence as well as the incident in 2022.

All the defendants appeared at Birmingham Crown Court during a sentencing hearing across last Friday (24 October) and Monday (27 October), after being convicted following a trial.

Hubaish Khan, aged 25, of Rockland Drive, Stechford, was charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He received a 29 year prison sentence.

• Aramaan Azam, 26, of Millhouse Road, Sheldon, was charged with two counts of attempted murder. He received a life sentence to serve a minimum of 21 years and two months.

• Usmaan Rehman, 25, of Fentham Road, Aston, was charged with attempted murder and jailed for 20 years in relation to the 2022 incident.

• Suheel Ellahi, aged 24, of Yew Tree Road, Perry Barr, was charged with attempted murder in 2024 and causing grievous bodily harm with intent in 2022. He was jailed for 18 years.

• Farhaan Azam, 24, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted murder and jailed for 20 years in relation to 2022.

DC Andy Harman, of West Midlands Police, said: “These attacks were callous and malicious and intended to seriously hurt to each of the victims.

“Both have been left with life-changing injuries and could easily have been killed.

“Each of these incidents led to incredibly thorough investigations with teams from across the force teaming up to put the pieces together and arrest and charge those responsible.

“There’s no excuse for this kind of crime and how calculated they were to injure their victims.

“We’ll always do everything in our power, no matter how long it takes, to put those responsible behind bars.”
