Second half goals from Joe Gelhardt and Darko Gyabi sealed Hull City’s 2-0 away win at Norwich City and with it, a first Carrow Road victory in 15 years.

The Tigers were fortunate not to be at least a goal down at half-time after a dreadful, sleepy display saw them battered for 45 minutes, but as it was, they managed to escape into the confines of the dressing room with the score goalless.

Gelhardt made them pay early in the second half when he brilliantly finished under pressure to give City a completely undeserved lead, but their second-half display improved massively and killed the game late on with Gyabi’s strike.

Here’s how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players in Norfolk on Saturday afternoon….

Ivor Pandur: Didn’t look at all comfortable in the opening half, though he did make one decent enough save. Solid in the second when he needed to be. 8/10

Ryan Giles: One of City’s better players in a really poor first half and continued in the second with a really spirited display. Looked so comfortable as it wore on. 8/10

Charlie Hughes: Often left exposed by the lack of midfield in front of him. Looked more and more at ease in the second half as City saw it out. 8/10

John Egan: Clubbed a shot just over the bar from the kick-off and had to do his fair share of blocking as City were hammered in the first half. Battled hard in the second to keep that clean sheet. 8/10

Lewie Coyle: Back in the side and won’t have enjoyed the first half against Jeffrey Schlupp, who got plenty of joy, hitting the bar and carving out plenty of chances. Much more comfortable in the second. 8/10

Regan Slater: Couldn’t get into the game at all, but almost fashioned a chance for Joseph at the end of the half. So much better in the second period. 8/10

Amir Hadziahmetovic: Was the one who saw a fair bit of the ball in the opening period but couldn’t stop the flow through midfield and was withdrawn at the break. 5/10

Matt Crooks: Made his 400th career appearance and couldn’t get into the game in the first period, but made his mark in the second when he freed Gelhardt to score. Showed his experience well as it wore on. 7.5/10

Joe Gelhardt: Struggled to make any real impact early on, but did early in the second when his brilliant finish put City a goal up. Four in four now for City’s in-form ace. 8/10

Joel Ndala: A first start for the winger since the defeat at Bristol City, and it largely passed him by in the opening period, as it did in the second. Looks to be well short of confidence. 5/10

Kyle Joseph: Saw a shot blocked from a rare attack, could not get into the game at all. Did brilliantly to rob Duffy inside the box but fluffed the chance to kill the game. Booked for complaining City were not given a penalty. 6/10

Subs:

Semi Ajayi (for Hadziahmetovic 46): His arrival signalled a change in the game with City looking far more solid and less open, especially out wide with the change in shape. 8/10

Darjo Gyabi (for Ndala 70): Gave City extra energy in the middle of the park, something they lacked badly in the opening period. Scored the crucial second to kill it off. 7/10

Cody Drameh (for Gelhardt 84): Gave City extra security in the final stages, and his cross eventually found Gyabi to seal a historic victory. 7/10

Enis Destan (for Joseph 84): Got in amongst it in the closing stages when City needed fresh legs. 6/10
