Officers locked down Waverley Market as they responded to a ‘false alarm’ suspect package report.
Police Scotland cordoned off the area from 12.35pm but shortly after 1pm on Saturday November 1, the scene was clear.
It is understood a concerned member of the public reported a suspect package at an address just off of Princes Street.

But after emergency services attended and inspected the item, it was found to be a false alarm with ‘good intent.’
No further action was taken by authorities.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 12.35pm on Saturday, 1 November 2025, police were called to Waverley Market, Princes Street, Edinburgh following a report of a suspect package at the address.
“Emergency services attended, the item was inspected and has been removed. This was a false alarm good intent.
