His sighting in Scotland comes after the songwriter shared his excitement as he was named the Guest of Honor in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after playing three sold-out shows in the city.

The legendary rocker, who played to 15,000 fans a night at the Moviestar Arena, received a certificate at the Parliamentary Assembly in the Eva Perân Hall.

Attending the ceremony, Rod was also presented with an Argentina football kit, complete with his name printed across the back.

He said: ‘I’ve never received an award of this kind; it’s a great honor. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

‘This is the country with the best soccer players in the world and the best fans of all.’

The principal legislator added: ‘It is a privilege for me and the colleagues present to be the ones presenting this extremely important distinction of Guest of Honor.’

They continued: ‘Buenos Aires is a cultural beacon for Latin America and the entire world; and in this beacon, receiving it is a great honor.

‘It is an infinite gratitude from this house, which is the house of democracy.

‘This distinction belongs to all the citizens of Buenos Aires, which not only breathes mud and soccer, but also the music of Sir Rod Stewart.’

Rod played the city as part of his One Last Time Tour, he will next play Germany before heading over to Switzerland, Austria, the United Arab Emirates and North America.

Earlier last month, he was in high spirits during a wild night out celebrating his whisky brand’s birthday in a swish Las Vegas club.

Rod served up a night of fun and even had his audience laughing by altering lyrics to hit Maggie May with some cheeky lines after a number of alcoholic drinks.

He had strolled over to Caspian’s Rock & Roe at the Caesars Palace Hotel after his performance at The Colosseum Theater.

The singer changed his words to the 1971 classic, belting out: ‘Oh Maggie please me show your t**ts tonight.’
