The results are in for 2025’s most popular delivery orders, and an Edinburgh institution has officially cracked the UK’s top ten. Pablo Eggsgobao, a city favourite we’ve featured before, landed at number six in the annual ‘Deliveroo 100’ report for its iconic Breakfast Bao.

This list, which charts trending dishes across the country, offers a fascinating snapshot of the nation’s cravings, and it’s fantastic to see an Edinburgh independent flying so high.

Regular readers won’t be surprised by the high ranking. In our own guide to the city’s best bao, we ranked Pablo Eggsgobao as the second-best spot in Edinburgh. The popular eatery, with locations on Leith Walk and Easter Road, has clearly captured more than just local hearts with its signature breakfast dish.

The UK’s 2025 Food Fashion Report

So, what does the 2025 food ‘fashion report’ look like? While Edinburgh championed the bao, the top spot nationally went to The Classic bagel from Papo’s Bagels, a family-run business in London. It seems the UK is in the grip of a ‘bagel boom’, with the classic format seeing a massive resurgence.

Beyond bagels, the list reveals a nation obsessed with specific, viral items. The top 10 also included:

  • Manchester was crowned the UK’s sourdough capital, with Jason’s Sourdough Bread from Morrisons ranking fourth.
  • Glasgow also made the list at number ten with the Diavola (Posh Pepperoni!) from Sano Pizza.
  • Matcha-mania, a trend largely driven by TikTok, saw the Matcha Iced Latte from London’s JENKI place seventh.
  • The rest of the top ten was rounded out by smash burgers, chicken tenders, and even a pint of Blueberries from a Co-op in London.

Beyond the Takeaway: Fans and Seamoss

Perhaps most revealing are the trends beyond the dinner plate. The report highlighted a surge in non-food items as delivery apps expand into general retail.

During this summer’s intense heatwave, electrical fans from Wilko became one of the fastest-rising items. In the wellness category, the viral Myla’s Moss Seamoss Gel and even an Ann Summers Power Bullet Set made the list, showing how delivery habits are moving far beyond just takeaways.

While the national list is a curious mix of viral health fads and comfort food, Edinburgh’s entry confirms what we already knew: this city has a world-class food scene that can set, and not just follow, national trends.
