Spain continues to strengthen its position as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Europe. Between January and September 2025, it received over 86 million international passengers, 5.6% more than in the same period of the previous year, according to TurespaƱa.
In September alone, almost 11 million travellers arrived at Spanish airports, reflecting year-on-year growth of 3.8%. The United Kingdom remains the main source market, with 2.4 million passengers, while Germany continues to be one of the most important, with 1.5 million.
The most visited regions have been the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, the Valencian Community and Madrid, which have concentrated most international arrivals. The Valencian Community stands out in particular, with an increase of 6.6%, driven by demand for sun, beach and culture.
As for airports, Madrid-Barajas has led arrivals with a 5.2% increase, followed by Barcelona-El Prat and Valencia, the latter with notable growth of 10 %.
With its mild climate, gastronomy and extensive flight network, Spain cements its status as the ideal destination to enjoy the European winter under the Mediterranean sun.
