- King Charles and Prince William have “tension” over at Buckingham Palace.
- William reportedly requested fewer royal engagements and Charles shut him down.
- His Majesty is allegedly making senior aides deal with William because it’s so awkward.
There’s some drama brewing at Buckingham Palace, and for once it has nothing to do with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. Turns out King Charles and Prince William are experiencing some “tension” in their working relationship.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince William asked his dad if he could cut down his official royal engagements last year, and His Majesty straight up said “think again.”
The outlet also reports “underlying tension” due to their “fiery tempers tempers,” and notes that working for King Charles is like “treading on eggshells,” while Prince William has mood swings that can be “difficult to handle.”
Everyone’s clicking on…
Some specific examples? Apparently the King is still upset about William flying his entire family in a helicopter in 2024, due to a rule that dictates heirs shouldn’t fly together. He even tried to get a senior aide to “obtain William’s written acknowledgement of the risks,” which William refused to do.
Meanwhile, Charles was “annoyed” that William turned up late to the coronation due to filming social media content, and he’s upset that his son refuses to wear a kilt in Scotland. As a source put it, “The King has repeatedly urged him, yet William won’t budge.”
Sounds awkward. In fact, things are are apparently so awkward that nowadays the “monarch will often leave senior aides to raise tough work issues with William.” Yikes!
