AN ITV newsreader has broken his silence after concerned viewers spotted his “droopy eye” live on air.
Paul Brand presented the ITV News at 10 last night – but some at home were left worried after noticing the detail.

One concerned fan wrote on X: “Has Paul Brand had an allergic reaction / hayfever reaction in his right eye?”.
The post racked up five likes, meaning other viewers were likely in agreement.
Someone quickly responded: “His toddler’s grubby fingers xXx,” referring to Paul’s post where he addressed his appearance.
Paul took to his Instagram story, to share an update on the situation.
He explained: “For those asking, the dodgy eye is just a product of a toddler’s grubby fingers.
“Hopefully less red tomorrow.”
His post was seemingly prompted by the reaction he got from viewers, with some likely reaching out to him directly to ask if he was okay.
Paul then updated his followers again on Tuesday afternoon.
Sharing a snap of himself out and about, he explained how his eye looked better and not as red as the night prior.
Earlier this year, viewers were left similarly concerned when BBC newsreader Clive Myrie’s eyes “drooped” during a live broadcast.
BBC viewers shocked as Clive Myrie’s eye ‘droops’ during News at Six and ask ‘is he ok?’
During a News At Six broadcast, Myrie’s left eye appeared to droop and close up, prompting many watching at home to urge show bosses to get him medical attention.
One wrote online: “I hope Clive Myrie’s OK. A lot of us are noticing his droopy eye.”
Another remarked: “Is Clive Myrie OK? His eye’s drooping.”
While a third asked: “What’s the matter with Clive Myrie’s left eye?”
The star, who also hosts long-running quiz Mastermind, cleared up the issue shortly after on X.
Reassuring viewers it was nothing serious, he penned: “Happy N.Year everyone and thank you all for your concern over my left eye.
“It’s nothing serious, just an infection.
“I did think about wearing an eye patch, but the boss said no! A bit like Long John Silver. He wasn’t having any of it! Cheers.”
The BBC quickly confirmed there was no cause for concern, telling us at the time: “Clive is fine and just has an eye infection.”
Another similar incident involved ITV newsreader Rageh Omaar, who fell unwell during a News at Ten broadcast last April.
On that occasion, Rageh did require medical treatment and viewers slammed the channel for not acting sooner.
