A Scottish crime boss is reportedly plotting a vicious revenge attack on a rival clan after two of his closest associates were shot dead in Spain earlier this year – with a suspect later arrested in Liverpool.

Steven Lyons’ brother, Eddie Lyons Jnr, 43, and his friend Ross Monaghan, 46, were killed at an Irish bar co-owned by Monaghan in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol on May 31. A suspect and extradited back to Spain.

Scottish police have insisted the murders weren’t planned in Scotland and aren’t linked to any drugs turf war back home. But underworld sources say Lyons, 44, is convinced his rivals in the Daniel family are behind it—and he is now “obsessed with revenge.”

“Steven believes the killings in Spain were ordered by the Daniel crew and he won’t be persuaded otherwise,” a source said.

“Right after Eddie and Ross were killed, he vowed payback. He’s been brooding on it ever since. He’s completely consumed with bloodlust and wants a Daniel head on a plate.”

Lyons’ main target is kingpin Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel, 45. But the source added that Lyons has also reportedly put a price on Zander Sutherland, the son of the late family boss Jamie Daniel, the Daily Record reports.

“Steven’s been spending all his time working out a plan,” the source said.

“He’s told his crew it’s time for payback and he wants bodies. Things are about to get very ugly on the streets of Glasgow. He’s got influence in the jails too and is ready to put money on Zander’s head.”

Lyons fled Scotland in 2006 after a shooting at Applerow Motors garage in Glasgow left his 22-year-old cousin Michael Lyons dead. He had been living quietly in Dubai, but was forced to leave the UAE in September after being arrested—and later released—alongside warlord Ross McGill, 31, and drug dealer Steven ‘Larry’ Larwood, 42.

The trio were under investigation for links to organised crime alongside Stephen ‘Jimmy’ Jamieson, 42, who is reportedly facing extradition. Lyons’ current whereabouts are unknown.

Back in July, reports revealed Lyons had spent thousands on cosmetic surgery in an attempt to alter his appearance.

A source said at the time: “Steven has made millions since fleeing Scotland, so extensive cosmetic work is no issue. His cheeks are noticeably filled, he’s had regular Botox, and his teeth would give Katie Price’s a run for their money.”

Lyons did not attend his brother and Monaghan’s joint funeral in Glasgow over fears he would be targeted by hitmen.

The man accused of the Costa del Sol murders, Michael Riley, 44, from Huyton, was arrested on June 14, just two weeks after Monaghan and Lyons were killed. Spanish police believe Riley is an “internal member” of the Daniel family.
