A man has been rushed to hospital after being assaulted in an alleged stabbing in broad daylight in Glasgow city centre.

Police said they were called to an assault on Union Street at around 12.55pm on Thursday, with an area close to Glasgow Central station taped off.

Officers could be seen gathered around the cordon on Gordon Street, where an ambulance also attended, with more police present behind the tape examining the scene down a lane.

The man, in his 20s, was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition is currently unknown.

Enquiries are also ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.55pm on Thursday, 6 November, 2025, we were called to a report of a man assaulted on Union Street, Glasgow.

“Officers attended and the man has been taken by ambulance to hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing in the Union Street area.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.52pm today to attend an incident on Gordon Street in Glasgow.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one male patient in his 20s to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
