Leeds United will not be hiring Jurgen Klopp.

Whispers of Klopp managing Leeds have been brutally shut down by Graham Smyth after an initial story from TEAMtalk bizarrely suggested it was possible – despite the German already insisting he will never manage another club in England besides Liverpool.

Klopp could, however, still have a say in matters at Elland Road given his position as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer and his connections to Brendan Rodgers.

Jurgen Klopp could endorse Brendan Rodgers to Leeds United

This is nothing more than our pure opinion, but if Leeds opt to dismiss Daniel Farke, the Northern Irishman cannot be ruled out as a possible hire for several reasons.

The 49ers approached Rodgers in 2023 after suffering relegation under Sam Allardyce – showing they already admired his managerial ability.

Furthermore, while Klopp will not manage Leeds himself, he is Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull and may potentially put in a good word, given his relationship with the 52-year-old.

Rodgers was even Klopp’s landlord after renting his old house in Liverpool to the German, and has often praised him in the media.

Upon replacing him at Anfield, he said: “Brendan did a really good job here… so we don’t have to show them how football works… there’s a good base here because of Brendan’s work. It was a really nice talk, he is a nice guy.”

Defeat to Nottingham Forest could spark the 49ers into action

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for Leeds United News – believes the 49ers could start the search for Farke’s replacement if Nottingham Forest emerge victorious on Sunday.

He said: “Let’s not dismiss what happened at Forest, West Ham and now Wolves – the form of the three promoted teams has caused other teams to take action.

“Now Leeds are looking over their shoulders, but would that be any different if it wasn’t Farke in charge? I am not sure and I don’t believe the Leeds hierarchy think that. Are they really underachieving? I don’t think so.

“At the moment they are not (considering a change) but lose to Nottingham Forest at the weekend and they may start looking.”
