Chris Davies believes Birmingham City’s League One points record could stand forever.
Blues celebrated their promotion back to the Championship on Sunday afternoon after a 4-0 win over Mansfield which took them to 105 points.
Davies’ side have smashed through the previous record set by Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2013/14 and only need two points from their final two matches to break the EFL record.

Despite not having records in mind all the way back in August, when Blues began this 60-game slog of a season, Davies reckons his team’s record could last the test of time.
Davies, who was wearing a winners’ medal around his neck, said: “My mind at the start of the season was let’s win a few games and see where we go, but obviously as we got going I was aware that was what Wolves had done previously and it is an incredible achievement.
“I will keep saying this and saying this, to get 105 points in a season, people might take it for granted, this isn’t something to be taken for granted.
“It’s incredible to get that amount of points and the consistency they have shown week in, week out, I really don’t think it will get touched again.”
Amidst the euphoria at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, Blues chairman Tom Wagner grabbed the microphone to pledge that even better days lie ahead for the club.
Blues’ ultra-ambitious manager is in no doubt that this club is going somewhere.
On Wagner’s speech, Davies commented: “As soon as I got the call I felt this was a club that was going somewhere, and I knew it was going somewhere with or without me. I wanted to make sure I was the one that was leading it.
“What Tom said to the fans there, he truly believes. He’s been an amazing owner for me. He’s given me an opportunity where maybe others wouldn’t have, but he’s believed in me and hopefully I’ve repaid him.”
