Knighthead Capital Management have confirmed that they have acquired the remaining shares in Birmingham City from ZO FUTURE GROUP, formerly known as Birmingham Sports Holdings.
The American investment firm gained control of Blues in 2023 with a 45 per cent stake in the club with the idea of completing a full purchase in time.
Blues have now confirmed that deal has gone through and that Knighthead have purchased the 51 per cent stake owned by ZO FUTURE GROUP to end their association with the club.
Blues chairman Tom Wagner said: “This transaction is another important milestone for Knighthead and Birmingham City Football Club. Transformation has taken place across every aspect of the club’s operations since our initial investment and it’s just the beginning.
“Later this month we will unveil our new stadium design, which will be at the heart of East Birmingham’s Sports Quarter. The ambition for our club is to be a beacon of excellence for Birmingham on the global stage. The journey to deliver this is well underway.”
Knighthead have pledged to build a new stadium and Sports Quarter in the heart of Birmingham and will unveil the stadium design later this month.
Wagner estimates the Sports Quarter will cost between two and three billion pounds to build and spent 12 months lobbying for Government support for vital transport links that were green-lighted in June.
The full takeover has been a formality for some time but has now been rubberstamped officially.
