A man has ran 31 miles between all 30 of Cardiff’s Greggs stores in attempt to raise money for Children In Need. Mo Williams, 55, is from Anglesey but has lived in Newport for almost 30 years.
He is a manager at the Cineworld in Newport Retail Park, and has worked there since it opened in 1997. As a Greggs lover, Mo thought he would use his love for the bakery chain to raise money for BBC Children In Need 2025.
In his own words he “loves running and loves Greggs” so found the challenge a perfect combination of them both. At each stop on his Gregg’s marathon, Mo purchased an item of food.
The challenge started on Friday at 6am at Greggs Pentwyn and ended at the Greggs in the BBC building in Central Square at 6pm. The route and menu went as follows:

Mo said he was inspired to raise money for Children in Need after seeing the work the BBC does to help underprivileged children and the terrible situations many find themselves in.
You can still support Mo’s mission by donating to his JustGiving fundraiser here, where over £2200 has been raised so far. We caught up with Mo after his mammoth challenge.
Talking to WalesOnline he said: “Cineworld support BBC Children in Need every year and I wanted to do my own thing because it is a charity that means a lot to me, I’ve seen the good work that they do. So I decided, I like running and I like Greggs, so let’s combine the two, that should get a bit of interest.
“They (the Greggs stores) were all friendly, I would say Rhymney Hill was particularly good, they were nice, the best dish was the first one of the day which was the sausage bap.”
Mo added: “It is easy to just do a running challenge or to do a run-of-the-mill challenge and I wanted to do something different that would get people interested and the more interest that you get, the more people want to give. I want to raise as much money as I can.”
Mo said he was “very tired and would probably have indigestion” after the challenge, while saying he felt “quite proud” of his achievement.
He was supported throughout the challenge by his gym, Wholesome Movement, his run club, Run Newport, his Cineworld colleagues and his friends and family.
