My Mate Alfie (6.40) can be the punters’ pal in the big race at Naas on Monday.

The four-year-old did nothing but improve last year eventually landing a Group Three contest at the Curragh. He reappears in the Listed Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Woodlands Stakes and can continue where he left off.

Trainer Ger Lyons – who says the horse “makes me look good” – expects My Mate Alfie to improve further and plunder more decent prizes this season.

NOBLE NATION (6.10) bolted up at the track last month and has been hammered with a 15lb rise by the handicapper. However he was so impressive that day and gets the soft ground he needs in the Family Fun Day May 18th Handicap.
