My Mate Alfie (6.40) can be the punters’ pal in the big race at Naas on Monday.
The four-year-old did nothing but improve last year eventually landing a Group Three contest at the Curragh. He reappears in the Listed Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Woodlands Stakes and can continue where he left off.
Trainer Ger Lyons – who says the horse “makes me look good” – expects My Mate Alfie to improve further and plunder more decent prizes this season.
NOBLE NATION (6.10) bolted up at the track last month and has been hammered with a 15lb rise by the handicapper. However he was so impressive that day and gets the soft ground he needs in the Family Fun Day May 18th Handicap.
WYVERN (5.50, nap) is napped to score for crack amateur rider Simon Walker at Wolverhampton.

The six-year-old has strongly hinted that he is returning to form and can take advantage of a likeable handicap rating. His jockey will have to settle him but he can weave a passage from a good draw.
PROMETHEAN (6.30, nb) went into plenty of notebooks when an unlucky seventh at Doncaster last month.
David Menuisier’s gelding remains a maiden but he may have been found a good opportunity at Windsor. Tom Marquand does the steering although Promethean’s ability to handle fast ground will have to be taken on trust.
CITY OF STRANGERS (4.40) scooted home at Redcar last Monday and can defy a penalty for canny trainer Ivan Furtado. She won easing down and fillies in form at this time of year can be deadly!
The Daily Star is launching a daily racing pullout from Monday April 28. It means readers will get the best tips, racecards and coverage six days a week in your favourite newspaper.
