Air India’s Mumbai-London flight, AI129, was delayed by nearly seven hours on Saturday, November 8. The delay is said to be due to a technical glitch.
The flight, originally scheduled to take off at 6.30 am from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, will now depart at 1 pm, the airline said.
“Air India flight AI129, scheduled to take off from Mumbai for London at 6.30 am, is delayed and yet to take off. Due to technical difficulties, the flight will now take off at 1 pm. Passengers have been provided with refreshments,” the airline said in a statement.
Earlier this week, several Air India flights were delayed at many airports due to problems with check-in systems caused by a third-party connectivity network issue.
“A third-party connectivity network issue had impacted check-in systems at some airports, thereby delaying flight departures of some airlines, including Air India. The system has since been restored,” the airline had said in a statement.
While the carrier did not disclose details about the airports where the check-in systems were affected, the sources said most of the domestic airports were impacted, and the check-in systems were down at the various airports for more than an hour.
Flight Ops at Mumbai Airport to Remain Closed For 6 Hours
Adani Group-AAI-owned Mumbai International Airport will remain shut for flight operations for six hours on November 20 as the facility operator plans to carry out a comprehensive annual post-monsoon runway maintenance work.
As part of a comprehensive, annual post-monsoon maintenance plan, both cross runways — 09/27 and 14/32 — will remain temporarily non-operational on November 20 from 11 am-5 pm, the private airport operator said.
Mumbai airport has two intersecting runways, the main runway 9/27 and secondary runway 14/32, which handle 950-odd flights a day, making it the second busiest aerodrome after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
