“Bristol is a city of ideas, humour, and community – and the Birdman event is the perfect way to celebrate all of that”
The call has gone out to businesses and organisations in Bristol to snap up the final few places on the take-off ramp for the city’s first ever Birdman event, which will involve getting wet and raising money for a good community cause.
The Bristol Birdman is taking palace on Sunday, June 15 at the Harbourside, and will see ten teams from businesses across the city create flying machines in an attempt to get across the water.
There’ll be prizes for the furthest distance flown, as well as for the style, grace and fun they have will doing it, and the event is being compared by actor and presenter Joe Sims.
Up to ten slots on the starting ramp are up for grabs and most of them have already been filled, with local firms including Adventure Bristol, the Bakehouse Factory, software company Brightpearl, Commercial Property Advisors and Puppet Place getting stuck in.
Money raised from the event will go to Grassroot Communities, a youthwork charity that is out on the streets and organising projects to help turn around the lives of young people from Southmead to Hartcliffe.
“We are proud to be a part of Bristol’s first Birdman event, supporting Grassroots Community and the invaluable work they do in uplifting and strengthening local communities,” said one participant, Gemma from CPA.
