A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Birmingham city centre.
The incident took place in Smallbrook Queensway, close to the Bullring shopping centre and Birmingham New Street Station around 9pm on Friday (November 7).
A woman in her 30s was in a life-threatening condition after suffering a serious neck injury.

She was taken to hospital and was in a critical condition.
Now Djeison Rafael, 21, has been charged with attempted murder on Saturday (November 8) night.
Rafael of no fixed address, who has been described as a ‘black , British national’ has also been charged with two further assaults and possession of a blade.

He was arrested at the scene of the incident, which was described by police as an ‘unprovoked attack’.
Police are still keen to hear from other witnesses to the incident and to the movements of Rafael, who had been wearing an all grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers and rucksack at the time, in the lead up to the alleged incident.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We have charged a man with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Birmingham.
“Djeison Rafael, 21, was charged following an incident in Smallbrook Queensway last night (7 November).
“He has also been charged with two further assaults and possession of a blade.
“Rafael was arrested following the incident, which saw a woman in her 30s taken to hospital with a serious neck injury.
“Rafael, who is a Black British national, has been remanded to appear before magistrates in Birmingham on Monday (November 10).“

The statement continued: “We are continuing our enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who knows more about what happened or the movements of Rafael, who was wearing an all grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers and rucksack at the time of the incident.
“Get in touch with us via 101 quoting log 5503 of 7 November or send in your evidence via our Major Incident Public Portal.“
Police have not provided an update on the woman’s condition, which was last said to be critical.
Part of Smallbrook Queensway was cordoned off following the incident, with several bus services diverted.
