Police are investigating the sudden death of a man in Carmarthenshire after they were called to a property in Newcastle Emlyn in Ceredigion at around midday on Sunday. The man was found unresponsive and ambulance services had tried to treat him but he died at the scene.

The death is being treated as unexplained and an investigation has been launched but police say people do not need to be alarmed. The man’s family has been informed.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a sudden death at a property in Station Road, Newcastle Emlyn at approx. 12pm today (Sunday, November 9 2025).

“Ambulance services were already in attendance to reports of an unresponsive person, and despite emergency services best efforts sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, and an investigation into the circumstances has commenced.

“There is no cause for the community to be alarmed.

“The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

“HM Coroner has been informed.”
