- Before she was the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was an actor on the USA Network series Suits until 2018.
- According to a Nov. 5 report from The Sun, Meghan is making her big return to acting with an upcoming project, Close Personal Friends.
- Meghan’s on-screen dad from Suits, Wendell Pierce, has since come to her defense after journalist, royal commentator, and biographer Angela Levin claimed that the Duchess was “difficult, demanding, and rude” on set.
The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly making her way back to our screens with a new acting project—and apparently, not everyone is here for it. Soon after the news about Meghan Markle’s rumored new movie, Close Personal Friends, broke, royal commenter Angela Levin took to Twitter to write, “Meghan won’t love being told what to do by any producer. Suits actors found her ‘difficult, demanding and rude’ and she was only a starter then.” Okay!
Luckily, one of Meghan’s former Suits co-stars is here to set the record straight. In response to Angela’s claims about Meghan’s alleged on-set behavior, actor Wendell Pierce (who played her on-screen dad, Robert Zane) replied, “You have no idea what you are talking about @angelalevin1. You are a gossip monger looking to profit off of smearing a woman you know nothing about.”
And he wasn’t done there! “Meghan was a kind, giving, and talented artist who I enjoyed working with for years,” he continued. “You, Angela, are a shameless hack. I’m more mad at myself for allowing you to get under my skin.”
Wendell, who also stars on shows like Jack Ryan and Elsbeth, concluded his message with, “I’ll focus this anger on the friendship that Meghan and I have and the fond memories I have from working on SUITS. Her grace is something you know nothing about.”
As a reminder: Before she joined the Royal family alongside Prince Harry, the Duchess starred as Rachel Zane on the fan-favorite legal drama from 2011 to 2018.

According to The Sun, Meghan is set to appear in her new movie, Close Personal Friends, alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid.
Meghan has yet to weigh in on the situation, but for what it’s worth, she’s probably busy on the set!
