The BBC has confirmed if Strictly Come Dancing’s Sunday result show will be axed.
Fans of Strictly have been expressing their concern for the future of the Sunday show following leaks and result show spoilers.
Every weekend, the BBC show airs two episodes, with the live show on the Saturday seeing stars dance and the pre-recorded result show the following evening on the Sunday.
As the result show is pre-recorded in front of a live audience, there are often leaks about who was eliminated before the Sunday show airs.
Following reports from the Mail Online that BBC bosses want to change the show’s format, some fans think now is the time to axe the Strictly result show.
Will the BBC cancel Strictly Come Dancing’s result show?
The BBC has confirmed that they have no plans to axe the Strictly result show.
Discussing reports of the Mail’s story, a BBC spokesperson said, “This story is nonsense. Strictly’s results show is hugely popular and over seven million people came together to watch it live last Sunday night.”
The BBC also shared that last Sunday’s result show brought in 7.1 million viewers, with numbers expected to grow once BBC iPlayer viewers are factored in.
The broadcaster added that the Sunday show’s overnight figure was five million viewers more than the most-watched program on other channels.
