Leeds United have a big decision to make this week on the future of Daniel Farke, who has come under immense criticism after defeat at Nottingham Forest.

United’s chances of staying in the Premier League were dealt a major blow at the weekend, losing to Nottingham Forest 3-1.

It leaves Leeds teetering precariously over the drop zone with a daunting run of games between now and the new year, and questions to be answered on Daniel Farke.

Will Leeds United sack Daniel Farke this week? Graham Smyth delivers his latest view

If the fan consensus was what dictated the 49ers’ decision on Farke, he’d have already been dismissed from his position. The mood has definitely shifted after another bleak away performance under the German.

However, are the club actually ready to pull the trigger like many expect? That might not be the case, according to the YEP’s Graham Smyth.

Defeat doesn’t drop Leeds into the relegation zone (yet), and Farke was keen to underline the 1.00 points-per-game United are currently producing.

“I wouldn’t be expecting it to be honest,” Smyth told The Square Ball podcast. “I would be very surprised, stunned, in fact, if they made a change at this point. Just not the sense I’m getting. It’s not what we’re hearing.”

This has since been backed up by Sky Sports. They report that there is currently no intent to sack Farke as manager. The club are claimed to be enthused by the 11 points collected from 11 games. The 49ers expect such a rate of points to give Leeds a good chance of survival.

“The fact Farke’s scheduled in for broadcast interviews next week is as strong an indication as any that he will be in the hot seat for at least some of those games. And, although it is a daunting run, there is a belief internally that the Elland Road factor is a reason for optimism,” Sky’s Zinny Boswell writes.

Should Leeds United be considering sacking Daniel Farke right now?

During the summer, the 49ers clearly put the feelers out about sacking Farke off the back of promotion. They obviously held major reservations about his credentials at keeping teams in the Premier League.

Unsurprisingly, they opted against that decision and looked to show faith to the manager. What has followed has been an up and down start to the season. However, the downs are coming more and more frequently.

In the first two months of the season, there was a lot to like about how Farke set us up. However, the lack of points on the board from those spirited performances was worrying. Newcastle at home, Fulham away, Bournemouth at home, Spurs at home. They’re all games United could and should have got more from.

Since then, form has badly unravelled in more favourable fixtures against bottom-half sides. That does not bode well, considering we have most of the top half to come in November and December.

The question that Paraag Marathe and co have to weigh up is: Do they believe Daniel Farke is the man that can revive this faltering Leeds side as sides below turn a corner? All previous evidence of Farke suggests otherwise.
