My latest deal find is a four-star spa break in the Welsh capital for just £79

While Wales’ cities, countryside, and coastal hotspots are undoubtedly amazing in the balmy summer months, I also love booking a break in winter, as you can often bag a bargain.
As a travel writer, I’ve also found loads of affordable places to stay recently, including a room by the sea for less than £50 and a 4-star hotel with a Michelin-recommended restaurant, for less than £85 a night when you book via the booking.com app. My latest deal find is a four-star spa break in the Welsh capital for just £79 on Groupon.
Cardiff Holland House Hotel and Spa (also known as Holland House Hotel Cardiff) currently offers a brilliant deal, where you can book a double or twin room for two people, including breakfast and late check-out, for less than £80.
Perfect if you want a Christmas shopping weekend in Cardiff or are coming for an event in the stadium.
City breaks can typically be very pricey, so it’s always great to spot a deal where you can be right in the centre of the action without spending a fortune. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here
I’ve actually stayed in this hotel before, but not at a price as low as this, so I’ll definitely take advantage of a bargain deal and enjoy a relaxing evening of spa and dining in my hometown.
The hotel has modern rooms(Image: Groupon)
This towering hotel boasts a prime city centre location and features a swimming pool, gym, and spa. Many of the modern rooms here have fabulous city views.
All bedrooms feature a range of modern facilities, including air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and satellite TV. Pets are allowed upon request, but additional charges may apply.
Guests can enjoy a stylish lounge bar and an award-winning restaurant with a modern menu. Relax and unwind in the hotel’s on-site leisure facilities, which include an 18-metre swimming pool, steam room, and jacuzzi. An access charge of £10.00 per adult applies.
I’ll definitely be booking another stay here (Image: Groupon )
One of the main selling points here (other than the pool) is how close the hotel is to many of Cardiff’s shops and attractions. It’s within walking distance of the Millennium Stadium, Utilita Arena and Cardiff Castle. So, there’s no need to fork out for Uber; you can simply take a stroll from the shopping centres to your room. Lush.
It’s also just a five-minute drive to Cardiff Bay, where you will find a selection of restaurants and bars on the lively waterfront and the impressive Millennium Centre.

You can often find deals like this during the off-season in Wales. If you do your research and check sites like Booking.com, Sykes Cottages, and Groupon, you can find great off-season prices on hotels and cosy self-catering stays. I’m a proud Booking.com Genius Level 3 member, which means I receive extra discounts and perks, such as complimentary breakfast or complimentary room stays.
Be sure to check deals on your mobile device rather than on a desktop. You may be eligible for special ‘mobile only’ deals and save extra pounds.
Another trick, if you know exactly where you can stay, is to check the hotel’s website for special deals and last-minute breaks and book directly.
Visit the Groupon website to buy this deal.
