British Transport Police would like to speak to this man after a woman was sexually assaulted on an Edinburgh to Birmingham-bound train, with the man getting off at Wolverhampton Station

A woman was sexually attacked on a train heading to Birmingham with police issuing a CCTV appeal.

It happened on a train from Edinburgh on Thursday, October 23, at around 9am.

The woman travelling on the service woke up to a man sexually assaulting her.

He then got off the train in Wolverhampton.

Officers from British Transport Police issued a CCTV image of a man its officers would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The man was white, clean-shaven with a shaved head.

He was pictured wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and white trainers and was carrying a phone.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Do you recognise this man? Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a train between Edinburgh and Wolverhampton are releasing this image in connection.

“At around 9am on Thursday, October 23, a woman travelling on the service woke up to a man sexually assaulting her.

“He then got off the train at Wolverhampton station.”

The statement continued: “Detectives believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could help with their investigation.

“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP, either by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 221 of 23 October 2025.

“Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
