Five protestors have been arrested during two demonstrations in North London – including one for chants referencing the Israel Defense Forces [IDF] .

The Met have made the arrests during the two events outside the O2 Forum in Kentish town on Tuesday evening, November 11. The protests were planned to take place outside the music venue as Bob Vylan was performing.

The police issued a Public Order Act ahead of the marches, ordering that both must end by 9.30pm. One person from the Stop the Hate protest was arrested on suspicion of common assault after a fight involving another protester.

One man from the pro-Palestine protest was arrested in relation to chants referencing the IDF. The frontman of Bob Vylan warned his fans to stop chanting against the Israeli military earlier this year, saying that they could get him in “trouble”.

A further three people, two from the Stop the Hate protest and one from the pro-Palestine protest, were arrested on suspicion of breaching Public Order Act conditions.

A spokesperson for the Met said before the events: “We’re aware of two planned protests and we’ve imposed Public Order Act conditions to prevent serious disruption and serious disorder.
