A CHELMSLEY Wood property has been handed a Closure Order following complaints of anti-social behaviour by a tenant.

Solihull Community Housing (SCH) – which runs Solihull Council’s housing service – was granted the order at Birmingham Magistrates Court in relation to 21 Richmond House, Marlene Croft, following proceedings against tenant Thomas Heames.

The 35-year-old did not attend the hearing, which was heard in his absence.

It comes after repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour at the address since 2023.

The court heard that this included reports of drug use; shouting, singing and banging at night; and intimidating behaviour.

The order prohibits anyone with the exception of those named on the order – people working for Solihull Council, SCH or the emergency services – from remaining in, returning to, or entering the premises for a period of three months.

Councillor Mark Parker, cabinet member for Housing, said: “I’m pleased that SCH officers, Solihull Council’s legal team and West Midlands Police have successfully brought this case to court and secured a Closure Order which prohibits the disruptive tenant from entering and living in one of our properties and I would like to thank them for all their hard work.

“Our law-abiding tenants deserve to live safely in the community and in their own homes. I would encourage any of our tenants who think that criminal or anti-social behaviour is taking place in their area to contact SCH or the Police. You will be listened to and your complaints will be treated confidentially, and we may be able to act as we have with this tenant.”

Anyone that breaches the order commits an offence and can be arrested and if found guilty of an offence they could be liable to imprisonment and/or a fine.
