A new coffee shop is set to open in Grand Central imminently – and fans are ‘excited’.

Black Sheep Coffee will be taking over Costa Coffee, in unit 41 on November 13.

Bullring announced the date of the opening on social media as one fan replied: “Love their coffee. Can’t wait” and another said “finally”.

Costa Coffee and Caffe Concerto both shut down in the shopping centre after a decade of serving punters above New Street Station.

Both establishments had formed part of the inaugural wave of retailers to launch when Grand Central opened its doors in September 2015.

Alongside the two cafés, a branch of The Perfume Shop has shut its doors, as has Shokupan, though that location might yet reopen.

Giraffe has also ceased trading, with barriers erected to facilitate construction work on the premises.

Black Sheep will be joining Tonkotsu and Pizza Pilgrims, two additional food outlets also preparing to launch.

A Grand Central spokesperson informed BirminghamLive in October: “We’re always looking to deliver what our visitors want which sometimes means evolving our line-up, especially around our food and drink offer.

“That’s why we’ve introduced Black Sheep Coffee, Tonkotsu and Pizza Pilgrims and have more new arrivals in the pipeline.

“Meanwhile, we had Sostrene Grene open their first Birmingham store last month and have several more fashion brands in discussions.”

Sostrene Grene launched to great excitement in September, offering an array of distinctive items including homeware, wellness and craft products starting from just 14p.
