BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year Aubre Krazer was named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, it was announced Wednesday. Krazer went 3-0 last Friday to win the 59 kg title at the Bill Farrell Memorial International at the New York Athletic Club and was named Outstanding Wrestler in the Women’s Freestyle Division.
Krazer’s tournament began with a 9-7 win over two-time age group World Team member Brenda Reyna. She then edged 2025 Senior World bronze medalist Altjin Togtokh of Mongolia 4-3. In the finals, Krazer used a big second period, scoring nine points in the final three minutes to defeat two-time age group World Team member and former U.S. Open champion Michaela Beck 12-6.
The title at the Bill Farrell Memorial International came on the heels of a summer that saw Krazer place fifth at 59 kg at the U20 World Championships in Samakov, Bulgaria and win a gold medal in the senior devision at the Grand Prix of Spain.
Krazer, who is expected to compete at 131, and the Mountain Hawks will wrestle their first dual meet as a varsity program Sunday at Lock Haven with match time set for 2 p.m.
