Vice Studios UK boss Jamie Hall has joined BBC Studios as scripted MD.

Hall will replace Mark Linsey and oversee all BBC Studios scripted operation including labels like Happy Valley producer Lookout Point, , Baby Reindeer indie Clerkenwell Films, Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow and Conclave maker House Productions. Linsey, who is L.A.-based, is pivoting to focus on the U.S. and the L.A. scripted unit.

BBC Studios said Hall will “work closely with BBC Studios’ creative leads to win new commissions, maintain editorial excellence, and deepen partnerships with global buyers including the BBC, Netflix, Apple TV+, HBO, Amazon, and Disney.”

The newly-created role was first announced by BBC Studios a few months ago and had attracted the attention of multiple big names in the UK scripted world. The job is a big one, a newly-created role from BBC Studios Productions boss Zai Bennett that means Hall is now working across some of the biggest shows in the UK and abroad.

Hall joins from his role as president of Vice Studios UK where he has led production and distribution for the past couple of years. Prior to that he was chief operating officer of scripted for Vice-owned Pulse Films. His past credits include Medici: Masters of Florence and The Man in the High Castle.

Hall will report into Bennett, who said: “Jamie’s a dynamic and respected leader with a proven track record across the scripted landscape.
