A man has been fined after he was found to be working at a pub illegally. Officers from the Aberavon neighbourhood policing team, alongside immigration officers and the fire service searched The Dunes public house, Wyvern Avenue in Port Talbot where they found the worker.

In October the man was found to have been working at the premises illegally and was dealt with a substantial fine imposed by Immigration. The sum of the fine is not yet known.

The Home Office civil penalties team will later decide whether the employer will receive a civil penalty which could amount to up to £60,000. For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter here

“This was a great example of partnership working and sends a message that illegal and/or unsafe working practices will not be tolerated in our community.”
