A man has died in hospital days after a house fire in East London. Firefighters were called to Romsey Road, in Dagenham, in the early hours of Tuesday morning (November 11) when a terraced house went up in flames.
One man was rescued and taken to hospital by paramedics, where he later passed away. He is yet to be named publicly.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation by London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police. The Brigade said it was first called at 4.21am, prompting a large emergency response.
Three fire engines carrying around 15 firefighters were sent to the scene from Barking and Dagenham fire stations. Crews worked for over 40 minutes, declaring the incident under control just after 5am.
Half of the first floor of the house was damaged, firefighters added. The sad news comes days after a woman was killed in a house fire in Hampton.
