A suspect has been named after two homes on the same road were broken into. Samuel Gates, 27, has been charged following a Merseyside Police investigation into the two burglaries on Victoria Road in New Brighton last month.

The force said the two homes were targeted on Sunday, October 19, with damage caused to both of the front doors. Police made an arrest in connection with the burglaries on Tuesday, November 4.

Gates, of Fairview Avenue in Liscard, has today, Friday, been charged with two counts of burglary dwelling with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm. He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Detective Inspector Kevin O’Rourke, who leads Merseyside Police’s Operation Castle, targeting burglars, said: “This investigation continues and we would continue to ask that anyone with information comes forward.

“Key to us putting offenders behind bars is information provided by our communities so please tell us what you know and we can take positive action.”
