Inside Honest Burgers on Clare Street
A popular burger joint has confirmed two new restaurants in busy Bristol locations. Honest Burgers is set to arrive at Cabot Circus within weeks, followed by another new opening at Cribbs Causeway.
The new city centre branch will open at the shopping centre on Saturday, November 22.
London-born burger chain Honest already has a Bristol city centre site on Clare Street, in the Old City. However, the Cabot branch will become the brand’s first restaurant opening in a retail space.
A spokesperson also revealed “another opening in Cribbs Causeway is in the pipeline”, although a date has not yet been confirmed. Honest did not state if this would be at The Mall, or elsewhere around the Cribbs Causeway retail parks.
The Cabot Circus branch will be open from 11.30am daily. Customers can expect to see Honest Burgers’ British racing green, handwritten chalkboards and exposed brickwork, seating up to 60 covers.
Honest will be celebrating the first opening with a burger giveaway in early December, giving Bristol customers a taste of what the restaurant has to offer.
The Cabot Circus site will feature a selection of beers from a local Bristol brewery and will also launch its own local burger in collaboration with Tubby Tom’s, a South West artisanal sauce and seasoning supplier.
Tom Barton, co-founder of Honest Burgers, said: “When we started Honest back in Brixton, we wanted to do one thing really well: serve simple, quality British burgers and chips that people would love.
“We’re proud to be expanding within the South West and opening another restaurant in Bristol. We look forward to welcoming the community through the doors.”
Honest Burgers has its own butchery and makes burgers from scratch with chopped British beef (not minced) so they eat like a steak. Every burger is served with signature homemade rosemary-salted chips made with fresh West Sussex potatoes.
The menu highlights include their ‘OG’ Honest burger, first launched on the menu in Brixton in 2011, served with cheddar cheese, smoked bacon and Honest’s homemade 6-hour red onion relish.

Alongside a range of classic beef burgers, customers can also indulge in smashed burgers, fried chicken, homemade vegetarian fritters and Beyond meat burgers, which are vegan.
Honest Burgers also serve sides including homemade onion rings, homemade gravy and halloumi fries.
Co-founded by friends Tom Barton and Philip Eeles in Brighton in 2009, Honest Burgers started out cooking British burgers in a field at a local food festival.
The following year Tom and Phil opened a tiny restaurant in Brixton Market (which is still there today), cycling eight miles every day to pick up the best beef available before their in-house butchery operation began.
Next to the Honest Burgers butchery is the Honest Kitchen, where all sauces, relishes, pickles, drinks and chips are made entirely from scratch every day.
Honest Burgers has 39 restaurants in England and Wales, including London, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester, Reading and Windsor.
