London has always been the place to watch and visit to find new fashion brands and talent. A wave of bold, imaginative womenswear labels has arrived in the city, each bringing its own take on style and craftsmanship. From indie designers making their first big splash to new international brands choosing London as an obvious market, here’s a look at some of the coolest new brands, each with an eye on sustainability.

Byan

Spanish womenswear brand Byan’s newly opened first UK-store, in London’s Covent Garden looks more British than Spanish. Founded by Andrea Moragues, an interior architect, the brand features gorgeous blazers, coats and dresses that look like they originated in Scotland rather than Spain. The garments are in plaid and checked patterned wool trimmed with velvet in a color palette of blue, green, burgundy and brown. The designs have subtle architectural lines, likely influenced by the founder’s background. With sustainability in mind, each garment is made to be timeless, in small Spanish workshops in small quantities to avoid overproduction.

Black Tulip

Footwear designer Sonam Joshan says of her brand Black Tulip that after working for many major brands she saw “there was a gap in the market for timeless, everyday essentials that were made responsibly and designed to last.” From memory foam insoles for comfort to responsibly sourced leather, suede and nylon, the shoes show the commitment to durability and quality craftsmanship that lasts years, not seasons. Each collection is limited and intentional, designed to avoid overproduction and encourage conscious consumption.

All pieces are made by hand in collaboration with an atelier in the garment district of Paris, the Sentier neighborhood of the 2nd arrondissement. If you’re looking for a Chanel-inspired jacket without the big price tag, Delia Wade is for you.
