A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a collision involving an e-bike and a van in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to Clermiston Road in the capital after the alarm was raised at around 8.15pm on Friday, November 14.

The 28-year-old man riding the motorcycle was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with what are described as serious injuries.

Officers from Police Scotland are now appealing for information about the crash, which involved a Mercedes Vito van and a black Sur-Ron electric motorcycle.

A passer-by earlier told how debris from the bike was left strewn across the road and a white van appeared to be damaged.

It’s understood the bike was seen lying in the middle of the junction as a result.

Police attended and a number of cordons were put in place.

Around half a dozen officers were at the scene for a number of hours carrying out investigations.

Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “Our inquiries are ongoing, and I would ask anyone who has yet to speak to police to get in touch and review any dash-cam footage for anything that may assist with our inquiries.”

The road was closed for investigations following the crash and reopened at around 11.45pm.
