Jayne Torvill was seen slipping on the ice after skating over a hole on the rink, with Christopher Dean rushing to help his ice skating partner in the heartstopping moment during the duo’s Bolero routine on their UK tour. The Dancing On Ice judges were wowing fans with their incredible routine at the BP Pulse Live Arena in Birmingham on Sunday when the incident occurred.

The 67-year-old was seen tumbling to the floor after slipping during her dance with Chris, 66, while the crowd gasped in concern. Jayne was quick to dust herself off, with the help of Chris, and got up to continue their routine as if nothing had happened. The talented duo, who rose to fame with their performance at the 1984 Winter Olympics, kicked off their final tour this month.

Showcasing their skills, Jayne, rocked stunning in a purple ombre outfit for the performances while Christopher matched his partner with a stylish silk purple button-up shirt with tailored trousers.

The duo first came together in 1975 before stunning at the Olympics. Their farewell tour, titled Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance, is set to run until May 11.

The dates will see the duo perform in London, Belfast, Newcastle, and Glasgow. Speaking ahead of their finale, Chris explained they both felt it was the “right time” to stop skating.

He said: “We’re not spring chickens anymore,” before saying the pair want to retire while they’re still able to perform “to a certain degree”. Meanwhile, the legendary duo have been followed by cameras as they travelled across the country for one last tour.

It comes as ITV recently confirmed an hour-long special is set to air which will also explores their long careers. The show will look back on their professional highlights and follow the skating duo as they prepare to say goodbye to their fans for the last time.

Jayne and Chris have appeared on the Dancing On Ice since it premiered in 2009, but show bosses recently revealed the series was axed due to falling ratings.

The announced one-off documentary, Torvill & Dean: The Last Dance, will air later this year and give intimate insight into what it’s been like to live life as the UK’s greatest ever ice skaters.

Jayne and Chris recently spoke to the Mirror about their tour, telling us: “We’re delighted that our farewell tour will be the subject of an ITV documentary.

“The programme will be filled with poignant and joyful moments as we plan, rehearse and perform our final skating journey together – all caught on camera by a film crew following us over many months as we bid farewell to our 50 year ice skating partnership.

“It’s fitting that this documentary will be broadcast on ITV, our TV home for the last two decades. We hope fans will enjoy this final opportunity to see us skate together.”
