Coleen Rooney was in disbelief as she reflected on a whirlwind year since she appeared on I’m A Celebrity. The 39-year-old was one of the stars who travelled Down Under for the 2024 edition of the ITV programme.

The mum-of-four, married to Wayne Rooney, was a hit with fans on the show and progressed all the way to the final. However, she was narrowly defeated by eventual winner Danny Jones in the public vote. This year’s edition got underway last night and Coleen took to social media to say she can’t wait to see how the class of 2025 get on.

She said: “So excited for tonight’s first episode of @imacelebrity! Can’t believe it’s been a year…. I had the best experience in the jungle with such a great gang. Good luck to everyone taking part this year!”

Fans took to the comments to praise Coleen’s appearance and said she should have won, as they referenced the emotional moment she met her family in the camp. Ray said: “You were my winner Coleen, had me in tears when you saw your boys”

Deborah added: “Queen of the jungle” Jodie added: “Always our Queen”

Christina commented: “Our queen of jungle” Nancy posted: “Should have won”.

I’m A Celeb kicked off in style last night as 10 faces traded the life of luxury for the Australian camp. Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, model Kelly Brook, rapper Aitch, comedian Eddie Kadi and former EastEnders star Shona McGarty were all seen skydiving out of the helicopter.

The five celebrities were then made to enter a wooden structure and wade through offal and slime to find a key fob that would gain them access to a getaway car taking them to camp.

The five other campmates – comedian Ruby Wax, social media star Morgan Burtwistle, known as Angryginge, soap star Lisa Riley, TV presenter Jack Osbourne and sports broadcaster Alex Scott – missed out on skydiving and arrived at a luxury villa before battling it out for a seat in the getaway car.

The show returned to ITV with an average audience of 6.6 million viewers.

The channel’s flagship entertainment show, which launched with a 90-minute episode on Sunday night, peaked with 7.3 million viewers

The episode was ITV’s highest overnight audience of 2025, the broadcaster said.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV
