Witnessing the glistening brightness of snow could become a reality this week, as the season’s first cold snap has arrived after Storm Claudia. Scotland is facing a Yellow Weather Warning for Snow and Ice today and tomorrow (November 18), with the weather continuing to look chilly until the weekend.

The exact times of the Yellow Weather Warnings in Scotland

Firstly, there is a Yellow Weather Warning for Ice issued for Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray between 7pm today (November 17) and 10am tomorrow (November 18), while tomorrow has multiple warnings present.

November 18 has a Yellow Weather Waning for Snow between 3am and 6pm, with most of Northern Scotland affected, as well as some Western Isles. Then, Scotland is issued with another Yellow Weather Warning for Snow and Ice on November 18 between 6pm and 9pm. The areas affected:

Central, Tayside & Fife

  • Angus
  • Perth and Kinross
  • Stirling

Strathclyde

Then, there is a Yellow Weather Warning for Ice on November 18 between 5am and 12pm tomorrow, which can lead do icy conditions, affecting South of Scotland, Northern England and the outskirts of Glasgow. The areas affected:

Central, Tayside & Fife

  • Clackmannanshire
  • Falkirk
  • Fife
  • Perth and Kinross
  • Stirling

SW Scotland, Lothian Borders

  • Dumfries and Galloway
  • East Lothian
  • Edinburgh
  • Midlothian Council
  • Scottish Borders
  • West Lothian

Strathclyde

  • East Ayrshire
  • East Dunbartonshire
  • North Lanarkshire
  • South Ayrshire
  • South Lanarkshire

Yorkshire & Humber

What is more, Northern Scotland and the North East of England have another Yellow Weather Warning for Snow and Ice on November 19 and 20.

Will we see snow in Glasgow this week?

It looks like it could be an icy couple of days, but there is little hope for snow in Glasgow thus far, with lows of -1. However, the Met Office has predicted sleet on Tuesday, as well as snow on higher grounds.

Wednesday to Friday is looking just as breezy, according to the Met Office: “Cold, with most places dry and sunny, but wintry showers across the Isles on Wednesday and early Thursday. Then dry before rain and snow spreads east late Friday.” Wednesday and Thursday will see lows of -2 and -3.
