A National Park known for its stunning landscape and beautiful villages, the Peak District is a popular destination for tourists from across the UK and from around the world.
Now a new study has named it the best destination for multi-generational holidays, making it the perfect location for a festive getaway with the family.
Holiday rental site holidaycottages.co.uk analysed internal booking data to find the best family-friendly holidays.
Researchers found that mutli-generation holidays are emerging as a new mindful and ‘slow travel’ trend, with a third feeling more relaxed after these holidays. A survey conducted by the company found 39per cent of people felt more joy after these holidays.

With Christmas fast approaching, many families will be planning a festive getaway and the Peak District is certainly a magical place to visit.
Julie Smith, regional expert for the Peak District and Yorkshire for Holiday Cottages, recommends visiting Bakewell and Chatsworth House.
She said: “Chatsworth House and the town of Bakewell, which are just 10 minutes from each other, have lots of independent shops that are decorated for Christmas at this time of year, and both host Christmas markets with 100s of stalls.
“Bakewell’s opens on the November 15-16 while the Chatsworth House market is open from the November 8. The Monsal Trail is a walk that begins in Bakewell and is lovely during winter.”

Yorkshire is another popular spot within easy reach of Greater Manchester. Julie recommends visiting the village of Haworth at this time of year, as well as the town of Knaresborough.
She said: “Visit Haworth in the heart of Bronte Country in the run-up to Christmas – the cobbled market square is lit by fairy lights and there are various events on, including a torchlight procession on December 6-7, and you can take a scenic walk through the nearby moors ahead of Wuthering Heights coming out in February.
“Harrogate similarly has lots going on for Christmas, including a Christmas market and Glow Winter Illuminations at Harlow Carr, while Harewood House is close by, hosting a Christmas extravaganza with the Regency theme: A Glittering Invitation.
“Nearby Knaresborough is the setting for a new Christmas film coming out soon, Tinsel Town, and hosts a winter wonderland experience at Mother Shipton’s Cave, as well as a Christmas market.”
