Families in two neighbourhoods of Edinburgh woke up without water on Tuesday morning after an issue was detected with the supply.
Residents in Granton and Muirhouse, in the north of the city, reported the problem to Scottish Water at 7.20am on November 18.
It is still classed as “under investigation” as of 9am, with an engineer said to be en route to the area.
The Scottish Water website has listed the fault, and informed locals with the following: “Customers in EH4, Muirhouse have reported an interruption to their water supply.
“We are currently on the way to investigate the issue and are aiming to be on site as soon as possible.”
A later update read: “Engineers are on their way to investigate reports of no water and low pressure in the area.
“Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.”
A general statement to those experiencing a loss of water supply read: “We are very sorry you have experienced an unplanned interruption to your water supply.
“In this event it is always our priority to restore the supply as soon as possible, regardless of the scale of the disruption.
“An unplanned interruption to your water supply is normally caused by a water mains pipe bursting on our network.
“We proactively manage our vast network of pipes, however unforeseen bursts do sometimes occur.”
Scottish Water has been contacted for comment.
