The team behind popular chains like Phat Spuds Deli, Shimlas and Peri Pariando are launching their fried chicken concept in Liverpool. Described as “made by foodies for foodies”, RJ Group has franchised across the UK with sites operating across Yorkshire and the North West.
NYK Chicken’s menu includes fried chicken, crispy fries, burgers, wraps, red donner meals, Detroit style pizzas and milkshakes. With locations already in Halifax, Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds, Batley and Bradford, the company said: “New York Krispy isn’t just another American diner; it’s a family-run haven.”
NKY Chicken’s website says: “Stepping into New York Krispy feels like stepping into a warm embrace, where every meal is prepared with love and every customer is treated like family.”
Attributing their success to “a strong national appetite for this fresh and flavour-driven concept”, the group has announced two more NYK Chicken outlets for Birmingham and Liverpool.
The exact location of the Liverpool site has not yet been announced but the group have confirmed it’s opening for 2026. The RJ group announced the “excellent” trading success they achieved in 2025 that made this expansion possible.

The group said: “Delivery is increasing 33% year-on-year, group revenue is up 25% and profit is growing 8%. With peak season ahead, we expect to close the year on a high.”
RJ Group is not the first company to choose Liverpool as the location for a major chicken chain, with the city quickly becoming a hotspot for fried chicken lovers.
The world’s first KFC ‘bar’ opened on Lord Street just last month. The Kwench bar occupies the entire front right corner of the venue and sits surrounded by hot pink neon lights, pink chairs and stools and pink dripping neon lights.

Wingstop also opened its first site in Liverpool on the same street back in April, with huge queues forming along Lord Street. A second restaurant was opened in Edge Lane’s Liverpool Shopping Park in September.
American fast food giant Chick-fil-A has also submitted a planning application to open a restaurant on Lord Street. The chain already has more than 3,000 outlets across North America, Puerto Rico and Canada, but the UK branches will be the first elsewhere in the world.
