A flood warning has been put in place in Greater Manchester amid Met Office weather warnings, with heavy rain and a cold plunge battering the UK.
A severe weather warning has been issued for Greater Manchester by the meteorologists as an Arctic blast sweeps the UK. It comes after a day of heavy rain and sleet across the region.
Temperatures in the region are forecast to drop to -2C this week, with lows of -10C possible in parts of the country, the weather agency said, with outbreaks of heavy rain also expected over the coming days.

The Environment Agency has now put a flooding alert in place which covers the River Bollin catchment area, including Knutsford, Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Bollington.
It comes after the Manchester Airport Relief Road (A555) became fully submerged again on Tuesday night (November 18).
An ‘unexpected amount of rainfall’ and debris from a fallen tree caused the main road to be closed off in both directions.
Stockport Council said in a statement: “The A555 has been closed and will remain closed overnight, Tuesday.

“We believe that damage caused by Storm Claudia, including tree fall, has resulted in a water channel being diverted, causing the road to flood.”We’re looking into this, and we will provide a further update tomorrow, Wednesday.”
The latest closure was put in place just days after Storm Claudia also caused the dual carriageway to become flooded and closed off on Friday last week,
Rising river levels overnight may lead to flooding, the Environment Agency said, with low lying land and roads near rivers likely to be worst affected.
The flood alert area includes catchment areas for Rivers Bollin, Dean and Pedley, Birkin and Mobberley Brooks and their tributaries. Areas around Knutsford, Wilmslow, Hale, Macclesfield and Bollington may be affected.
