The opening date for the brand new Animal store at The Mall Cribbs Causeway has been confirmed – and it’s only days away. The surf fashion brand is set to open its doors at the popular shopping destination on Friday (Nov 21).
Inside the store, which will be located opposite Superdry and Suit Direct, and between Pret a Manger and Lovisa on the ground floor of the multi-level shopping mall, the brand’s latest collection will be available to browse and buy. Animal will showcase some of its fashion garments on geometric ‘animal head’ mannequins, specifically an owl, a fox and a hare.
To mark the opening of the new store, the first 20 customers to make a purchase will receive a free Animal water bottle. Doors will open at 9.30am on the day.
This news comes just weeks after BristolLive reported that hoardings for the new Animal store had gone up at the unit, advertising some of the brand’s fashion ensembles and detailing job opportunities. The Animal Cribbs Causeway store has created 17 new jobs in the area, the brand has confirmed.
In September, the international surf brand signed a 10-year lease at the shopping venue, BristolLive reported, with a store spanning 5,000 sq ft. It previously boasted a shop at Cabot Circus, which closed in 2021 due to an ‘extremely challenging’ time for retail.

Founded in the South West in 1987, Animal has gained recognition internationally with the surfing and action sports community. It’s one of a number of international brands that have opened up shop at The Mall in recent months.
Others include pizza restaurant chain Pizza Express, fashion brand AllSaints, the ‘biggest Superdrug store in the South West‘, and stationery store and Jellycat supplier Scribbler.
Katie Searle, director, asset management, at Cribbs operator Sovereign Centros by CBRE, said: “Leading international brands continue to flock to Cribbs, and we are delighted to welcome Animal as our latest addition.
“Thanks to our extensive shopper base, for many of our brands Cribbs is consistently the best performing store across their UK portfolios. We expect Animal to perform well as the brand really resonate with our strong younger shopper demographic.
“With exciting residential development activity under way across the Cribbs Causeway area, our shopper base continues to grow, and brands are keen to secure their space at Cribbs Mall. With more new arrivals in the wings, we are continuing to enhance our retail and F&B offering to ensure we maintain our position as one of the country’s best performing retail destinations.”
