Coronation Street star Sue Devaney is among those responding to the exit of one of their cast members as they sent a ‘bye bye’ message following their last day filming.
It may not come as a surprise to some that Daniel Brocklebank will be bowing out of the ITV soap, in scenes to air in 2026, as Billy Mayhew after he announced the move earlier this year.
The actor said in a statement in May: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”
Following his statement, show bosses confirmed that the character will be “tested in ways he never imagined” over the coming months, which will ultimately lead to his exit in 2026 in a top-secret story.
With Corrie filming up to ten weeks in advance, it was on Tuesday (November 18) that Daniel confirmed he’d finished filming at the Trafford-based set for the last time.
Sharing a selfie from the corridors of the Corrie building, a stone’s throw from Salford’s MediaCity, the soap star wrote on Instagram: “That’s it. Last scene filmed. Bye bye @coronationstreet. Bye bye Billy.

“The last 11 years have gone by in a blink. I’ve adored every moment of being part of this special family. I can’t thank @itv and all at Corrie enough. It’s been a ride. I adore you all.”
Sue, who will face her own exit from the ITV soap in the coming years following her character’s dementia diagnosis, was among those to quickly respond as she gushed: “Love you! Will miss you so much!”
Toyah Battersby actress Georgia Taylor echoed: “We love you darling.” Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, also said: “We will miss you so much! We love you loads”. Sally Dynevor, famed for playing namesake Sally Metcalfe, commented: “Love you Dan.”
Abi Webster star Sally Carman-Duttine also supported: “We will miss you lovely man. Now go get ‘em!” Kirk Sutherland legend Andy Whyment posted: “You’re gonna be missed Dan, I’m sure you’re going to get loads of work.”
Jonathan Howard, who arrived on the cobbles earlier this year as Carl Webster, shared: “We love you @danielbrocklebank so happy I got to spend some time with you on the cobbles! Good luck on the next one.” EastEbders star Michelle Collins also offered her support, adding: “On to the next chapter Dan , exciting!!!”
