Pudsey Community Project has launched an appeal for ‘friends’ to help support the charity’s work.

The lifeline project, based at Fartown, offers a food bank, food pantry, support for vulnerable people and Kids’ Clothes reuse scheme among a range of community activities.

This week they have launched the Friends of Pudsey Community Project scheme — inviting people to give vital regular financial support to help keep its services going.

Posting on Facebook, the project said: “Times are tough for charities everywhere — and local community organisations like ours often lose out to big national or corporate charities when it comes to individuals’ financial support.

“But our community needs us, and to keep going we need you.

“For over five years, Pudsey Community Project has been at the heart of local support and transformation.

“Thanks to our volunteers and donors, we’ve been able to run:

  • A six-day-a-week foodbank, supporting 20,000 households over the years now, alongside our community pantry network, which between them support 500 people with food every single week of the year
  • West Yorkshire’s largest children’s clothes reuse scheme, helping families save tens of thousands of pounds and protecting the planet at the same time
  • Five weekly youth and children’s sessions, offering safe, positive spaces for young people
  • Mental health support, especially in bereavement
  • Our popular weekly older people’s lunch club
  • Our thriving repair café

“…and so much more that quietly, consistently transforms lives across our community.

“But none of this is possible without reliable, ongoing support. That’s why we’re launching the Friends of Pudsey Community Project scheme — inviting local people to stand with us by giving vital regular support of £5 a month, £10, or more if you can!”

As a Friend of PCP, you will:

  • Know you’re directly supporting a local charity
  • Receive a special email update
  • Get an invitation to our spring supporters’ event
  • Be thanked on their website
  • Receive your Friends of PCP thank you certificate

They added: “If you believe in local support, local compassion, and local change, please consider becoming a Friend of PCP today. Your monthly gift — even £5 — helps keep this vital work going.

“Together, we can make sure Pudsey continues to be a place where everyone is supported, included, and cared for.”
