Two teenage boys have been arrested as part of an investigation into a “distressing” attack outside Filton McDonald’s yesterday.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary said its officers were called to Station Road just before 1pm on Tuesday (November 18) following reports of an altercation outside the fast food restaurant, situated at Filton’s Abbey Wood shopping park.

One person, a 17-year-old boy, self-presented at hospital with a puncture wound to his stomach, along with other injuries. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening or life changing, police said.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, are in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of assault by causing grievous bodily harm.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Stephen Baines said: “We understand incidents of this nature are very distressing, but I would like to reassure everyone we are taking this matter incredibly seriously.

“We have increased our patrols in the area to provide additional reassurance to the community and we ask anyone with any concerns to please speak to our officers.

“Enquiries are still ongoing and I would like to thank members of the public and staff at McDonald’s for their patience and understanding while we conduct our enquiries.

“A scene was in place yesterday while officers and forensic teams attended the scene and was stood down in the evening.”

Claire Hazelgrove, MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke, described the incident as a ‘stabbing’ and said she has contacted police for more information.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, this evening, she wrote: “Like all of us across our community, I was appalled to hear reports of a stabbing following an altercation yesterday.

“Avon and Somerset Police have informed me that, thankfully, the injuries of the person who went to hospital are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.

“I know this incident will be worrying and I will continue to stay in close contact with the police. Knife crime and violence like this is completely unacceptable. It’s important the police find all those involved.”

The MP went on to encourage anyone with information to contact police. A McDonald’s spokesperson told Bristol Live: “We are aware of an incident which took place outside our Bristol Filton restaurant.

“We are supporting our restaurant team and cooperating fully with the police in their ongoing investigation.” The restaurant has re-opened following the incident.
