Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces carried out large-scale strikes on military-industrial and energy sites in western Ukraine, using long-range precision weapons including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and drones. The ministry described the attacks as retaliation for what it called Ukrainian strikes on civilian facilities inside Russia, claiming all designated targets were hit.
Moscow also released casualty figures, alleging that Ukrainian forces lost around 1,340 troops across multiple fronts in the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, Russia’s battlegroups inflicted losses in Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, destroying tanks, armored vehicles, artillery systems, and electronic warfare stations.
The heaviest reported losses came in the responsibility area of Russia’s Battlegroup Center, where officials said more than 470 Ukrainian soldiers were killed along with several armored vehicles. Other battlegroups—including North, West, South, East, and Dnepr—were also cited as inflicting significant casualties and destroying equipment.
Kyiv has not confirmed the Russian figures, which could not be independently verified. The claims come amid escalating fighting across eastern and southern Ukraine, with both sides intensifying operations as winter approaches.
