Just minutes away from the popular seaside resort of Llandudno in North Wales is a tiny cove that’s home to magnificent wildlife. Porth Dyniewaid, known to locals as Angel Bay, has become one of the top spots for observing seals in their natural habitat.

The small pebbled beach is nestled between the headland along a stretch of wild and unspoilt coastline.

There is a path along the cliffs which provides the ideal vantage point to observe the seals below, although it’s best to bring a pair of binoculars to see them, WalesOnline reports.

Matthew Fox, CEO of LateRooms.com, noted: “British holidaymakers love a good seaside town and Llandudno has been a classic for generations.

“But just a short hike around the coast from its pastel promenade and Victorian pier is something truly special, and a real reward for nature lovers.”

This secret bay is cherished by grey seals, especially during autumn when they arrive with their pups. While autumn is the prime season for seal sightings, visitors can enjoy these marine mammals almost all year round.

It’s important to note that the cove’s beach is not accessible, ensuring that the views for onlookers are unobstructed and that the seal population remains undisturbed by human contact.

Perched on the imposing cliffs above the beach, admirers are treated to expansive panoramas over the Irish Sea, where, on sunny days, countless seals can be seen swimming or lounging on the rocks warmed by the sun.

Remaining undisturbed by commercialisation, the area offers serenity and natural beauty, and even on the prettiest days, while other ramblers may be present, you won’t find any signs of queues, ticket kiosks or souvenir stalls.

Visitors to the cove have lavished praise on Tripadvisor, describing the walk as breathtaking and the view from the top as awe-inspiring.

One reviewer said: “Absolutely beautiful place with unreal views! So peaceful as we went later in the evening to watch the sunset. We spotted quite a few seals on the shore and in the sea”.

Another visitor said: “Such a surprise, even though the only reason we visited was to see the seals. We never imagined so many of them lounging on the beach, taking little dips in the sea, barking and talking amongst themselves.”

They added: “Could’ve stayed and watched all day. Beautiful to see them in their natural habitat and the walk to the beach follows an easy path so it was a very pleasant stroll.”
