A new retailer is set to open in the space most famously used by Topshop in Liverpool city centre. The Keys Court unit is being transformed into a a dual-sided arcade with the creation of three new independent premises, with British jewellery brand Monica Vinader the first to open.

Monica Vinader was founded in 2008 focusing on sustainability by using 100% recycled gold and sterling silver, as well as 100% recyclable packaging and reusable pouches. The brand is available in retail stores across the world and department stores like Selfridges, Liberty, John Lewis, Farfetch and Nordstrom.

Rob Deacon, director of asset management at Liverpool ONE – Landsec, said: “Monica Vinader is a high quality, highly regarded brand with a very strong following across the region, and perfectly sets the tone for the redevelopment of Keys Court.

“The signing of the brand is also indicative of our commitment to continually evolve Liverpool ONE based on our deep understanding of consumer needs and wants, and how we deploy that knowledge to create a relevant and appealing offer.”

Monica Vinader said: “We’re so excited to be opening our first boutique in Liverpool, a city known for its creativity and strong sense of community.

“Liverpool ONE is the perfect location for us to connect with our customers in a beautiful, welcoming space that reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and conscious design.

“We can’t wait to introduce the Monica Vinader experience to both new and existing customers in the city.” Monica Vinader is set to open in spring 2026.

It was confirmed in February 2021 that the Church Street Topshop store, which opened as part of the Liverpool ONE complex in 2009, would not reopen following its closure due to lockdown rules.

The store closed under lockdown rules from January 5, 2021, before it was confirmed all Topshop, Topman and Miss Selfridge stores would close across the country after Asos bought the brands from the administers of Arcadia.

A huge vintage clothes shop – The Vintage Standards – occupied the unit back in May 2022 before announcing it’s closure in September 2023. It then moved to a new unit, in the former Hollister site, next door to Zara, on South John Street and rebranded as Vintage Standards before closing again six months later.

Topshop returned to the highstreets earlier this month in in John Lewis stores in a series of exclusive pop ups. Michelle Wilson, managing director of Topshop, said: “We’ve seen an incredible response to Topshop’s return, and we know our customers are excited to shop the brand in person again.

“By taking our Winter and Party collections beyond London, the Topshop pop-ups bring our signature energy and style to locations across the UK, just in time for the festive season.”

Running through to Christmas, the pop-ups offer a seasonal snapshot of Topshop’s collection, from essentials to denim and statement pieces that channel the brand’s recognisable style.
