Christmas is around the corner  – and Armley’s Leeds City Mission has something special for families in West Leeds!

They’ve stocked up on ‘Real Advent Calendars’, packed with delicious Fairtrade chocolate, a 24-page Christmas story activity book, and a warm helping of goodwill.

For those who love to read about the real story of Christmas and the birth of Jesus, there’s a line from the Christmas story with a high-quality colour picture behind every window, meaning children can learn more and more each day as they enjoy the chocolates.

Each calendar isn’t just a treat – it’s also a gift that gives back. A donation from every sale supports the Funzi and Bodo Trust, a Leeds-based charity which helps to provide vital maternity and medical care for mothers and babies in two remote Kenyan mud-hut villages.

Plus, the Fairtrade Mark guarantees a fair price for cocoa producers in West Africa enabling them to make a living as they sell their crops to chocolate manufacturers.

“It’s one of the few truly ethical Advent calendars in the UK,” said Sinclair Martin from Leeds City Mission. “And at just £4, it’s affordable for families who want to make a difference this Christmas.”

That’s not all! Volunteers from Leeds City Mission, which is based in Armley, have also upcycled over 7,000 Christmas gift tags from used greetings cards – and they’re available for free at the Mission.
